Can NGOs charge the beneficiaries of their activity?
NGOs conduct many activities without money, pro-bono, with the help of volunteers. However, there are areas of activity where such a way of functioning is not possible.
For example, in the case of specialized services provided by organizations (such as rehabilitation, medical care, counseling and many others), which often require specialized equipment and personnel. All these factors generate costs. Therefore, sometimes organizations decide to charge a fee.
This fee often does not give the organization a profit, it just covers the costs. Even if an association or foundation runs a business and a profit is created, it must be used to achieve its charter objectives, that is, to undertake activities to achieve the mission for which the organization was established.
