Is a volunteer a trainee/intern?
Internships are not volunteering. Student internships result from an obligation enshrined in the regulations of the school or college. Therefore, a person working under such an arrangement is not doing so voluntarily - it is their duty and should not be confused with volunteering.

Autor/źródło: canva.comIn the case of trainees/apprentices, this issue is regulated by the Act on Promotion of Employment and Labor Market Institutions, which defines training (apprenticeship) as a process, in which an unemployed person acquires practical skills to perform work by means of performing tasks in the workplace without establishing an employment relationship between the employer and the unemployed person.
Neither trainees/apprentices nor interns are volunteers during their apprenticeship and/or internship. However, if they are doing an apprenticeship/internship in entities authorized to work with volunteers, nothing prevents them from volunteering outside the period of mandatory internship and internship - then they become volunteers.
